I'm going through much the same. I've met great friends online, and many of these friendships are no longer simply online friendships but there is thepossibility of giving too much of yourself away.

Often times I have stopped to reflect If I were the man God sent to the world as His last messenger when he went to Taif to deliver the message of His Lord and suffered such an wholesome humiliation for attempting to save them from eternal doom. I struggle with my imperfect self to understand the love, kindness and generosity demonstrated by this noble being (saw) towards these mean and unwise lots.
Then, I come to terms with the challenge before me as a believer never to hold grudges, never to hate, but to love and love and love whatever the circumstance. Truly, Allah loves the Muhsinun.

These type of people are not rare in life, in fact there are very common, you find them everywhere; for example on the internet I have met these types on Facebook, Twitter, Sport sites, web forums, the list is endless...

These people are blinded by their own ignorance, they so much want to believe that they are right that they don't realise they are wrong.

I'll cite an example from the Former Vice President of America and Nobel Prize winner Al Gore (it's a long anecdote so read it until the end):

"When I was a student , a pupil looked at the world map and asked the teacher: "Were the continents ever joined together?"
The teacher replied, are you crazy?? There is so much distance between them!

When the pupil asked another teacher the same question, he replied: "Maybe what you say is right, time will tell us the answer."

Some years later the "Pangea" theory, which states that all continents were indeed joined together at some point, was proven right."

That's what I mean by someone blinded by his own ignorance, the first teacher thought that he had already known everything about the subject, the second accepted the fact that what he has learnt is not always right. There's no man that has learnt everything, so people have to learn to accept that they can't be right in everything they say!

Thanks for reading everything I've written, I know it's alot of words to say a simple thing but in life you have to keep trying until you succeed.

Ignorance to the very existence of the imbecile is usually the best response...of course, it is best to do this after you have hi-fived their face. I cant stand these type of ppl.

This is beautifully written Tas. I relate to so much, I suppose many would, it's the stuff that makes us, opens our eyes, reschools our perceptions and teaches us discernment.

Salaams. I know nothing can really console you when you have lost a loved one, but I was moved by this retelling of your experience. Inshallah, may he be granted Janat-ul-firdous.

I miss the adhan immensely. In my area, we don't hear it at all. However Tas, I think that we should be courteous of others in the area, and respect their wishes re Fajr adhan.

Ameen. I feel you...I went the entire month without feeling the slightest urge to watch tv (except for the news at the time of political change) but yesterday I watched 'How I Met Your Mother' I don't want to get back into mindless viewing, which I only got into a few months ago when i bought a tv for my room-to watch the news more often. But instead I'd find myself watching sitcoms & movies.

Glad I found this link. I still have your blogspot link on my blog-will change it.
